Blogging is currently the best way to earn an income on the Internet without having to invest in costly websites. It is wonderful in as much as it levels the playing field and takes no account of age, experience, wealth or background.  If you can type and press a few keys, you can blog.

Blogging is merely the act of writing and publishing posts, and it has had a great impact on the Internet Marketing world.

In a moment of menopausal madness I began marketing at the age of fifty and now have four websites to my name.  However, had I realised how easy it is to blog, I would have ignored the time consuming websites and concentrated solely on blogs.

The thing which most appeals to me about blogging is the fact it is quick.

You don’t have to spend hours writing, and the language in blogs tends to be natural, informal and friendly. Many posts are only 200 - 300 words in total, which for the beginner may seem a lot, but as they are usually written in very conversational tones it’s actually easy to achieve.

Just think about holding a normal conversation with someone and count the words you use in actual speech.   For many, it’s not a question of not having enough to write, but rather having too much.

There are two different types of entries you can make.  These are posts and pages.  The difference between the two is that a page is a permanent fixture, like an About, or Contact page, whilst a post is a short article or piece of information which is automatically archived by date. The most recent post will be displayed and the others stored in reverse chronological order.

Trapped By Time - Blog Your Way To Freedom by Jean Shaw on April 15th, 2008

It is with somewhat of a surprise I find myself writing a blog.

Why?

Well, it’s because it’s an on-line journal, or diary entry and I’ve never been one for diaries.  I remember as a child it was the in thing to have lockable ones, and one Christmas I was given a pink, five-year,lockable type. I probably used it for about two or three months before I realised the colour shoes Amy wore to school, or the fact Jane fell out with Sophie because they both liked Alan was hardly inspirational or interesting. Had we not moved house it would probably still be under the bed gathering dust.

However, as I’ve grown older and wiser I realise I do sometimes have something to say, and unlike the entries in my old diary, they might just be worth airing.

Blogs are unquestionably the easiest and cheapest way to have an on-line presence on the internet.  If you have a Blogger account it is completely free and you can be chatting to the world within minutes.  Some people do.  It’s a way of keeping in touch with family and friends.
