Every day something happens to make me appreciate how lucky I am. Today it was sitting in the audience watching my son’s school performance of The Sound Of Music, or at least a very small part of it.So why am I so lucky? Well, there are many reasons.

My son has autism and will be leaving his current school this summer. Whilst his disability often gives me sleepless nights, I realised my troubles are nothing compared to those of many parents. The diversity of problems faced by the other children who attend the same wonderful Special Needs School; make my son’s autism seem a blessing. That’s something I never thought I’d say.

Another reason I am so lucky is I work from home, which gives me total freedom. I chose to be my own boss and as such I set my own hours. I never feel guilty about taking time out to visit the doctor or dentist. I can schedule trips as required and attend important things(to me at least) as school plays. I don’t have to ask permission from anyone, which is just as well as this year I went twice.

Ever since I had my menopausal moment and decided to do something on the internet I’ve been repeatedly told the easiest way to make money is by affiliate marketing.  I’ve also been repeatedly told, “the money is in the list”.

The statement has always been very specific, but it had me confused for ages because no-one actually elaborated and told me how to build a list, yet alone what to do with it to get any money.

It’s alright saying “the money is in the list”, but how do you get it out? A few people suggested sending e-mails at regular intervals, some even recommended sending them every day or even twice a day, which I have to confess, I found disturbing.

One of the first people I came across when I decided to do something on the Internet in 2005 was Michael Cheney, and I have to admit he impressed me.  The reason I liked him then, and still do now, is because he replied personally to my initial e-mail.

Michael Cheney, one of the most-respected names in Internet marketing, has been online since 1995 and is the man behind the 6-Figure launches of AdSense Videos, 11 Days To List Profits and Michael’s Traffic Videos.

Three years ago he was already making a name for himself with his Website Marketing Bible and has since gone on to develop more products and increase his following.

My menopausal moment came on my 50th birthday.

I attended one of those “Free” lunches at a really posh hotel in our area.  The catch was I had to listen to a short presentation, but in return I would get not only the lunch but also a valuable gift.

Anyway, as it was a milestone birthday I thought it would be a great way to celebrate, and something to relate if anyone ever asked me what I’d done.   The prospect of being able to truthfully say I’d dined at this particular hotel was very appealing, and there was no need to explain the circumstances.

Many of my peers had been on holidays, cruises, or thrown big lavish parties, but I wasn’t in the financial or personal position of being able to do either. (more…)
